1915 Calendar Plate Panama Canal Chicago Advertising

Description

Unusual advertising calendar plate for 1915 with a view of the Panama Canal which was completed in August 1914. Gilt imprint at bottom: "Compliments of Gust Sampson 1801- 03 N. Washtenaw Ave., Choice Meats." Retailers commonly gave out such items to good customers at Christmas time in the early 20th century. Plate measures 8 1/2" across and bears the backstamp of D E McNicol Pottery Co. East Liverpool, Ohio.
